This in-residence course provides an overview of the foundational elements of, and highlights critical issues in, current tax legislation that general practitioners commonly encounter and need to understand.

This in-residence course provides an overview of the foundational elements of Canadian private corporation tax and highlights critical issues in current tax legislation that general practitioners commonly encounter and need to know about to advise their clients for the future. Improve your ability to identify tax issues and gain a better appreciation of tax-planning techniques while reviewing the CRA’s current administrative practices and positions.

NOTE: Preparatory work, including online reading and e-learning, is required to fully benefit from this in-person course. Access will be provided at least three weeks prior to attendance.

You will learn about:

  • capital gains
  • personal and corporate tax planning
  • tax on split income (TOSI)
  • estate and trusts
  • port-mortem planning
  • corporate reorganizations
  • international issues for individuals
